I don’t know about you but every time I buy something I feel that little pang of guilt that I have enough money to spend on luxury items such as clothes and handbags. And not to forget, shoes! Sure, I give to charities but still, I never feel that it’s enough and I really believe that I’m not the only one. That’s why, when I founded No Ordinary Suit together with my business partners, the thought of including a donation in every purchase felt like a great idea! That’s when I started looking at charities to work with. I wanted it to be relevant to what we do, an organisation that helps and empowers women, possibly something with education or a charity that gives women a voice. I came across Womankind and immediately I realised what a good fit this was. So I thought I’d share some information about this amazing organisation.Every day women and girls around the world face discrimination, poverty and violence just because they are female. Womankind is working to change that.
In the last 27 years, Womankind has helped more than 18 million women and their families to transform their lives and communities by working in partnership with women’s rights organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Womankind’s is guided by its partners and what they want to change. In supporting them Womankind aims to:
- End violence against women and girls
- Make sure women have an equal say
- Support women to secure their own livelihoods
Together we create lasting change
For individuals – by providing practical support, training and information to help women claim their rights.
For communities – by changing attitudes and supporting women to speak out together and act collectively.
The big picture – by campaigning nationally and internationally for governments, agencies and donors to promote and protect women’s rights.
